In the news today:

  • Three more deaths in Afghanistan. Our soldiers are amazing. They are the most brave of the brave and sometimes the least supported. I hope we FULLY take care of the families left behind. My heart breaks for you.
  • Sometimes I think the media releases too much information. A young man was shot in Mississauga last night was identified as the youngest of 19 victims and had been shot several times - and the Toronto Sun reporter prints the previous record!! So now the perp has not only been recognized but his homeys know how many more shots they need to have for the next one! Freaking ridiculous.
  • The Canadian Press has an article out on the existence of the theoretical Higgs boson. I really cannot grasp this. It sounds like it has not been observed and has something to do with particle masses of electromagforcecantfigureout ... Wow!
  • Man dies after being struck in the head with a toilet lid. Gives a whole new meaning to the term shit kicked out of you. (Yes this is in very poor taste.)
  • Yukon Jack and his big yap - my hero. He calls it like it is. The porn rant is so very true.
  • 10 digit dialing. Less than 3 weeks and almost 100% of Albertans are remembering to dial 10 instead of 7. Suck it up, get over it, it is not going anywhere, move on.
  • Olympics in Beijing. I think the Chinese have done an incredible job hosting the games. This article by Thane Burnett provides a look at the pride of the Chinese people. While I do not condone human rights violations, the Chinese are not any different than the US.
  • Kenneth Jack Anderson has been charged with sexual assault, interference and exploitation. Pedophiles are everywhere and work at many careers. Do not paint all with the same brush. There are a lot of good youth leaders who are not pedophiles.
  • A two mouthed fish is found by Fort Mac and it is being blamed on the oil sands and environmental problems. Yoda, the four eared cat, is touted as cool and everyone wants him on their TV shows! Both to me should be labeled genetic oddities.
  • Guatemalan moms can now force men to take DNA tests. I really have a problem with this one and many will disagree with my view. We girls hold the ball on pregnancy. If it is going to happen then we know about it. We choose to use or not to use some form of birth control so we hold the key. And the whole "could not afford or obtain birth control" says you had better keep your legs closed. You have sex with someone outside of a committed relationship and find yourself pregnant - there is no "finding oneself pregnant". Why the hell should HE have to pay for something YOU control? There are always options: morning after pill, abortion, adoption. Smacking him with a bill for life because you want a baby is not fair. And don't try the religious reasons angle - a ludicrous crock of shit that people use when it suits their purpose. If your religion tells you not to have sex outside of marriage then you shouldn't do that. If you're "forgiven" for doing that then you'll also be forgiven for stopping it. Also, you not telling him about you possibly ovulating is the same as him not telling you he has HIV - both are life sentences so to speak. If you want to keep the baby then do not expect money from him. Period.

Whew. That's a load off.

Toodles!
