Coming up to Summer!

The weather has been very nice this May. Not too much rain, although we have been hit with an early outbreak of mosquitoes. The news says some of them are decades old eggs. Whatever it is, they're hungry and feasting on everything they can see.

I'm loving my photography. Unfortunately, financially it's not liking me. I spend money on new things and gas, and then take free pictures or pics of old buildings and such. A hard market to break into. Plus, I don't think my pics are that good yet, so that's probably part of it. I'm also not advertising enough nor in the right places, so that's a big part. It'll happen or it won't. Meh.

Life is interesting right now. My bipolar is all over the place. Doc is trying to figure it out, but then he goes on holidays for three weeks and I have to sit and wait for his return, while trying to figure things out in my own brain. Back to work in a couple weeks (thankfully) and hopefully onward and upward.

The family is doing well:
  • Darrin and Drey are up at Kearl Lake; they're currently waiting to be evacuated from the camp because there's a 221,000 hectare forest fire that's almost at their worksite, and not far from the camp. Hopefully they'll be flown out (bussed at the least) this evening. That's a fire they're not going to be able to stop. The boys will likely be off at least 3 weeks, but then there will be the logistics of re-setting up the site and getting 5000 people back up there. Auntie Bonnie explained some of the logistics for me, so I have a much better understanding of how things work and on such a massive scale.
  • There was a massive forest fire in Slave Lake earlier this month. It completely leveled a huge portion of house, and a bunch of businesses and municipal buildings. Just horrible. The province has rallied together, though, and collected so many things for the evacuees, as well as money for the Red Cross to help them in other ways. It's just plain tragic.
  • Kiershyn just moved back home from Calgary. She had been down there working and going to school for the past year. She had a very bad experience with her new roommates and we ended up making an emergency trip down to get her and her things. So she's back home, working at Starbucks and thinking about the fall.
  • Braunt is working up at Conklin right now. He's 20 on and 7 off. It sounds like a busy job, so that's always a good thing.
  • The pets are doing well too. Gator, big orange cat, is 10 now and still rules the roost. Lucy, little Dorkie, is 6 and still running strong. Joni, little chihuahua, is 5 and acts like a puppy all the time. Finally, Elle, the little Chorkie, is 3 and is a puppy still. She and Joni are great friends, and they even allow Lucy to play once in a while. LOL
I took a trip to Regina a few weeks ago to see my auntie Lori and Nana. Auntie recently had a hip replacement, but she looks fantastic! Unfortunately, she needs another and after the pain of the first, it's going to be difficult to get the next one. Hopefully she does well. Nana is in a new nursing home and is loving it. She hasn't been there long, though, so the honeymoon will likely wear off. It's a really nice place in a small town where she can walk to the store to get snacks and such. She's using a walker on the one hand, but has taken up dancing again. Hmmm... I thinks that the walker is maybe for a wee bit more attention. Unfortunately for her she's one of the most mobile, so she's considered to be just fine. lol She's turning 83 on the first day of Spring and while she isn't a spring chicken, I think she's doing pretty good. Telling a few stories and such, but otherwise doing okay.

'Tis about all I have to say today.

Toodles.
