We got a little snow yesterday. About 20 cm (8") with it still coming down and expected to end around noon today. I don't mind the snow so much as the cold. While our temps aren't supposed to be too bad, the windchill is going to bring them almost to -30C. Chilly!!
The weather is playing havoc on the roads as well. Kiershyn had her first drive on snow covered highways yesterday. She made it through though and I'm sure learned a lot. Dad's driving her today, so that will give her a little respite.
In Ferguson, Missouri, there are riots and looting going on. Michael Brown, an African American, was shot by a white officer, Darren Wilson, in August of this year. A few days ago, a grand jury decided not to indict Wilson for Brown's death. This has not sat well with a lot of people so instead of doing something constructive, they choose to loot and burn and destroy one another's property. Wow! That's a great way of showing your respect for the dead.
Oil is dropping like crazy. Gas is down below $1/litre and while people think this is fantastic, the drop in price is directly related to people working in the oil and gas industry. So you get to save $3 on a tank of gas, but a dad loses his job. Or something like that. Oil's down to $70/barrel, down 35% since June. "OPEC, the largest group of oil-producing countries in the world, said Thursday it won't scale back production to stabilize the worldwide price drop, a move that sent crude spiraling lower." Here come the low housing prices and exhorbitant interest rates.
Kiershyn and Tyler moved in last weekend. They're saving for a house and can't do it with $1300/mo rent payments on top of everything else. They're confident they can make it work within 6 months and we're happy to help them out. It's an adjustment but all's coming along nicely.
Miss Ariya continues to grow like a weed. She's such a precious girl. Here's her latest pic - shopping with Mommy.
I do wish my Mom were here to love up little Peanut. I know she'd find her just incredible!
Toodles!
