I'm over a month late, but happy new year! I hope your best of 2014 is your worst of 2015.
Life is busy as always. Ellie and I volunteer at the airport on Fridays now. We walk the strip and meet people and talk with them. They pet Ellie and perhaps get rid of some anxiety or tension. Today we spoke with an airport employee who had to put her two dogs down last June. She teared up petting Ellie and telling me about it. I think it was good for her to get it out without fear of being judged. It helped.
The kids are all doing fine. Drey and Jo are staying busy working and running their house. Kier and Tyler are still with us. They've got their down payment and just put an offer in on a house!! They're playing the back and forth bartering game, but that should be over soon. We're so excited for them. Braunt, Bre and Ariya are all doing well. Braunt's working hard and Bre works equally as hard at home.
Ariya. Oh my Peanut. She is getting so big! She started walking at 10 1/2 months and has been motoring ever since. Her first birthday is in 4 days! I can't believe a year has passed already. Just incredible. The time went fast with our kids and I feel I missed things, so I'm trying to squeeze in every little bit with our baby as the time seems to be going even more quickly. Ariya comes for sleepovers - which is really nice. We play (chasing Opa back and forth is a favourite thing), snack, bath and then bed. She sleeps pretty good - wakes up for a bottle half way through but that's all. Such a good girl!
The critters are all good. Lucy had her teeth scaled and 4 removed. Her breath was soooo bad I just knew something in there had gone wrong. $315 later, she's all fixed up. All the girls have to go for checkups and shots in May - right at birthday time for them. I've got them on a diet so hopefully they'll have lost some weight by then and be getting back to their svelte sizes - Joni especially. That poor little dog can get fatter than the other two with just a couple extra pieces of food I swear. This diet will see the least loss in her. Gator, Tat and Coco (Kier and Ty's little siamese cat) are good too. Tat has topped out at a nice medium size. Not quite as small as we thought she'd be, but still nice nonetheless. Coco is growing like a weed and running around everywhere driving us crazy. Just par for the course.
The news. Well, the news is screwed to put it mildly. ISIS is still killing hostages. Oil is still dropping in price (houses haven't come down and interest rates haven't gone up ... yet) and there are major layoffs at all the plants. Like Darrin said, it's a way for them to clean house too. Get rid of the riff raff. Our weather has been wacked. -20 and then +3. Today it's freezing rain and horrible highways. Tonight is supposed to be snow and ice pellets - 5 cm or more. Bloody hell.
A kitty (Bart) who died and was buried, then came back to life and clawed his way out of the grave, is in the centre of a custody battle. Seems the owner wants the cat back but the Humane Society doesn't feel the owner will be able to care for Bart - he's got some pretty serious wounds.
Alberta is a top spot for sex toys and BDSM gear sales. An online sex toy company compiled a list of the top Sex toys, adult novelties and lingerie, and Erotic Spanking Accessories. Fort Saskatchewan made #44 on the spanking list. Interesting ... lol.
Another case of mad cow disease. It won't hurt as much as 2002 or 2008 - we're "allowed" 12 cases per year now, so we're okay.
Today is the 24th anniversary of my Mom's death. As with everything, time has gone so quickly. I can't believe this much time has passed. I'm well past her age when she died, which comforts me - I worried about making it to her age at death, silly as that may seem. Oh the things she has missed. Our babies, our trials and tribulations, our Ariya. Just so many things. As I've said before, though, a lot of good came from her death. Things that never would've happened if she'd lived. I miss her dearly but am so thankful it doesn't hurt like it used to. Now I just have happy memories.
Toodles!
