It has been an eventful couple of weeks in the world. All of it sad, IMHO.
Paris had terrorist attacks on various parts of the city on Friday, November 13th. ISIS has claimed responsibility. Here's a timeline of things. Beirut and Baghdad were also attacked a day before. France has declared war against ISIS and has asked their allied brothers to join in standing together and annihilating this atrocious terror group.
Here at home, the people elected a Liberal government with Justin Trudeau as Prime Minister. His big promises were to legalize pot, pull our fighter jets out of the ISIS/ISIL/IS conflict, middle class tax cuts, and bringing 25,000 refugees into our country. Actually, I'm not sure about the refugees, but it's going to happen before the end of the year, so we might as well talk about it. One little pet peeve I have about Justin: quit saying "ah" so many times when you speak. Maybe some toastmasters would be in order.
Refugees. PM Trudeau is hell bent on getting 25K people here in the next 6 weeks. No one is prepared, who knows what type of screening the refugees have had. It's an all around bad idea. There is absolutely no way that some terrorists aren't in that group. I want to know that my family and friends are safe and secure from the radicals that are inevitably coming in these groups of people.
A volunteer firefighter was horribly burned in 2001. Recently doctors gave him a face transplant. It was the most extensive ever done and included his scalp, neck and ears. Absolutely incredible what can be done nowadays.
Our family. The kids are all doing well. Nothing new since last time I wrote. Still plugging along, living and loving. Ariya is, of course, amazing. She's growing and learning so much - she's like a little sponge just soaking it all up. She's talking now, just words not sentences, and is doing well. She loves coming to play. Her love for Pōpa is very apparent as she runs to him whenever she sees him and gives him smoochies. He is utterly smitten with her.
