I've been looking at pictures and for some reason nursery rhymes and songs came into my head. Oh Dear! is one my nana used to sing to me. She used to sing all the time. I loved it. She played piano, organ and accordion, completely self taught. I got my love of piano from her. I remember tinkering on the keys and getting myself into trouble. The time came when Nana was selling her piano and we got it! I promptly started piano lessons and the rest is history. Mostly because I take a lonngggg time to play a song now.
Ariya tried out piano last year. It wasn't really her thing. We did get a little music reading and theory and songs into her, so that's good. I'd Hendrix to pick up an instrument, but he is just WAY too busy right now. He's got a squirrel running in him that keeps whipping him around in different directions all the time.
Darrin got home yesterday. He's finally done travelling for a little while. He's off to Shell for a few months. It will be nice to have him at home for a while. I believe it's about 6 months or so. It doesn't matter, though. It will be a treat.
It's the middle of October and we're still having temperatures up to 24C. Let's hope it stays warm for Halloween. Makes me a little afraid of what's coming. Hopefully winter isn't too bad. We'll see how my little car does. I'm sure it will be fine. I got a heater for the front windshield. I just have a feeling the defrost in Myrtle isn't that strong on its own. If all else fails, there's Darrin's truck. That beast will get me through anything.
Speaking of Darrin's truck. We don't have a trailer anymore, and won't be getting another any time soon, so Darrin would like to trade off his truck on a new 1500. I don't know what I think about this. I got a pretty sweet deal on his truck; one that I don't think I'll be able to find again.
We're having a try at getting a different house. We're going to find out about financing today. Not sure if we're going with the bank or a mortgage broker. The kids are all saying go with the broker. We've got an appointment with the bank at 9:30, so we'll see what they say. We also have a broker we'll be talking with later today. Either way, I think it's going to be a no, but we'll see.
I can hear the cats tearing around and I wonder how long it will be before they wake Darrin. He's been getting up at 4 every morning for the last 4 weeks, so he can sleep as long as he wants.
Here's a collage of the critters. Rika's growing like a weed.
