I'm not sure if I mentioned I'm going to be a granny again! My third grandchild, and second granddaughter, is due to greet the world April 28, 2023. That is just before Pōpa's 54th birthday :) Daddy Tyler and Mommy Kiershyn are so very excited with her upcoming arrival. I remember how excited we were with our kids - it's a great feeling. Kiershyn has started to feel baby get the zoomies, so that is really good. I knew it would happen sooner or later; it's just the biggest miracle when it happens - feeling that life inside you. I'm so happy and excited for them.
I love the nicknames I have for the kids. Ariya suits Peanut and Hendrix is such a Bean; they really suit their names! For this baby, Auntie Joanna suggested the name Cubby. She chose this because I call Kiershyn Miss Bear that it would be great to call this babe Cubby. I agreed. Now I'm in the process of writing a little song to whisper sing to the wee one.
I can't remember if I ever wrote Peanut and Bean's songs down, I figured out the song's line, but haven't decided if I'm going to add chords and such. :)
Granny's little Peanut, Peanut, Peanut
Granny's little Peanut, look at how she grows
Granny's little Peanut, Peanut, Peanut
Granny's little Peanut, look at how she goes
Granny has a little Bean, little Bean, little Bean
Granny has a little Bean, his name is Hendrix Pierce
Granny has a little Bean, little Bean, little Bean
Granny has a little Bean, I can't remember the rest of the song (Bad Granny)
So now Cubby needs a song. I've got a couple months to put something together.
Where did Granny 4.0 come from? Well, there was my granny (who was actually my great-granny), then my mom was a granny, then Auntie Deb, and now me - the 4th granny. I believe there were 2 grannies before my great-granny, so I'm probably 7.0 or 8.0. lol I consider it an honour to carry the name down from great women before me. Women who have lived through hard times and harder times, who ran a house on two cents and a prayer. Women who led by example and by just living, making it through. Doing what had to be done, when it needed to be done.
I wanted to be called Nana. My nana was a very special person to me; someone who I spent a lot of time with. From the time I was five, I spent at least 3 full months with my grandparents every summer. Actually, when I was 3 I took the train with my birth father to Regina (I believe). I stayed a long time that time. Almost until I was 4. I remember taking the train again with my Nana and that we were at my house before my 4th birthday - which is in August. I remember flying back to Nana and Grampa's the next time it was warm (I believe it would've been the spring of '73). I was so excited because I wasn't 5 yet, but I had to tell a fib and say I was because you had to be 5 (can you believe it -4 year olds traveling by themselves?!?!?!) to fly by yourself. So, off I went. I stayed with Nana and Grampa a long time then. At least until September. Afterwards it was June 30th to September 1st every years for 8 years. So, we spent a lot of time together. Anyway, I loved her a lot and would have been a proud nana. Sadly, Darrin and my nana never got along. I'm not sure why - Nana just had a great dislike of Darrin, who had no idea what the cause was. He asked me to please not be a nana. I acquiesced.
Time for me to get ready to get my next tattoo. Picture to follow.
