What to discuss today? What's new and exciting?

I'm watching our little Sasha pug completely passed out on the bed; Lucifer is tucked behind the pillows. Daigums is snoring on the couch.

Braunt and I ran around town doing some shopping. We were discussing driving in the winter and standards versus automatics and many other things, as both he and I took turns driving. His friend DG just got his license, but hasn't had much experience driving and so we were talking about how important it is for kids' to get experience driving with an adult before they get their license. I'm not sure if everyone knows this, but new drivers need 50 hours behind the wheel in order to be fully prepared for the road by themselves. That's 1 hour of driving time per week. With the price of gas and restrictions on everyone's time, that can be difficult. But give it a try.

We also talked about the young man being charged because of the death of Levi and Melissa. Actually, we've been talking a lot about the charges and what all happened. There is the one school of thought that says, "That boy feels so bad because Levi and Melissa were killed, he shouldn't be charged." Then there is the other side that thinks, "He took responsibility for three lives when he got behind the wheel of that car, he perhaps made an illegal move like trying to pass on the right, and then got into an accident that resulted in two lives being lost." I'm struggling with a little of both; I think so much depends on the young man and what he is going to have to deal with for the rest of his life. If we encourage him to help others to not make the same mistakes, it will help him as well because he will hopefully come to forgive himself eventually and not to turn to anything bad in an attempt to deal with the pain. My heart goes out to everyone involved in this tragedy.

Well, time to go make supper. It's chinese hamburger with rice night. Yum!

Toodles!
