It was a closely averted tragedy. The Cruise extorter suicide almost breached the privacy of an incredibly famous actor. The dead man claimed to have brokered deals to sell a sex video of Dustin Diamond, who played Screech on Saved by the Bell. I know this will hit Krys hard as he is a die-hard fan.
Meaning absolutely no disrespect to Mr. Fossett's family and friends, I can't be the only person considering he may have orchestrated his disappearance. Horrible thought or something to ponder?
Prisoners cleaning the highways is an awesome idea, but why do we only see this once or twice a year? There are a lot of things inmates could complete for cities and counties, especially in the public works areas. Why are we not getting these people to contribute toward the cost of THEIR care? It costs something like $50,000 to house ONE offender in our penal system. The majority of people in the workforce don't make that in a year, AND they have to pay extra for healthcare, medication, glasses, dental work, meals, bedding, clothing, toiletries, housing, entertainment, exercise equipment, and even GOLF COURSE ACCESS! WTF??? I say we get these cons out SIX DAYS A WEEK until their sentences are completed. There would be no additional cost incurred with this, and it would SAVE money in having municipal work completed in exchange for everything provided to them - which is the offenders' "pay" for doing the work.
The trial Alberta's Judicial Council has unanimously cleared provincial court Judge Brad Kerby of any wrongdoing in the trial of Leo Teskey, an Edmonton man who allegedly beat a building caretaker into a near-vegetative state seven years ago. Oh man! Kerby found Teskey guilty, but then took ELEVEN MONTHS to provide written reasons for the verdict - and he was UNANIMOUSLY CLEARED??????????? I think the only reason for that is because the whole COUNCIL f'd up! One would hope that Kerby would have asked for assistance from his superiors, which was obviously not provided. If he DIDN'T ask for assistance, then NAIL HIS ASS TO THE WALL for making such a serious blunder!! Mrs. Lesley Miller, wife of victim Dougald Miller, has said she was disappointed but not surprised by the council's decision.
"They were just paying lip service to me," she said Friday. "I would have thought he would have been reprimanded for taking so long, at least. I just wish he had never made the mistake, because this new trial is just dragging everything up again for me. We're back to square one." This has gone on long enough. Terminate Teskey and give all the monies he would have cost us to Mrs. Miller so she may spend her days with her husband without worry of his constant medical costs.
Smoking is a turn on? Very interesting article about some genes in the body being "turned on" in a permanent and harmful way ... study that may help explain why the risk of cancer remains high even after smokers quit ... found several genes that stay turned on for years, including several not previously linked with tobacco use. So, while quitting is a good thing - not starting at all is the best.
Enough rants for today.
Toodles!!
