Happy Father's Day Everyone!

My friend BD is absolutely crazy (yes, that's why we get along so well), and sent me this little ditty... Some people are like Slinkies: Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs... BD, you didn't do anything you're going to ask me to help you hide later, are you? *snicker*

Well, today has been a good day. It started last night with our Dadums getting his presents. He got a couple of golf items, a new chest for his money and jewelry and such, and an Authentic Ray Lewis Baltimore Ravens jersey. We got it on Ebay for a song. Well, not a song, but for a lot less than it would have been new! Found out my Dad has taken a trip to the Maritimes. He didn't email us or anything, so I didn't find out until I called to wish him H.F.D. and learned he hasn't been home for 20 days. Wow! Not sure why he decided to go it alone, but that's his prerogative. I hope you read this blog, Dad - Happy Father's Day to you. I hope you have had a good day and haven't missed your own Dad too much. I wish I could say we miss you, but we don't really see each other a lot (obvious don't talk much either - I'm joking, honestly!!), though we miss you bunches at football! :-)

The kids are doing well: KVS just had her Grade 9 grad - it was very exciting and everyone had a good time. They dressed up a lot and some people wanted to have a dance, but I'm glad we didn't. It would make it a bit too much like Gr.12 grad - and we have to keep that a goal that our students strive to achieve. Anywho, she wore a beautiful white gown with grey striped socks and pink Chuck Taylor runners. Here's another pair. She stayed with her bestest friend MP and I understand they fell asleep before they could sneak out. (Good try, girls!) DBR is still working at the construction site and just received his first cheque - that made the work all worth it! He was unable to work today as he had matters that kept him close to home. I believe he's going tomorrow again, as he doesn't have an exam until Tuesday. BDR has a friend who's house got broken into and who's 2 video game systems, all his games for the systems as well as one rental got stolen. That REALLY sucks. What the hell happened to NOT touching things that don't belong to you!?!? We have been violated that way both by strangers and those known to us, (no, that isn't really our site) and it is a horrible feeling. It is unacceptable regardless who does the stealing and who is being stolen from. When it happens to someone else they're often ready to "sue their pants off" in order to get absolutely anything for less than a fair wage. Have you noticed there is a lot more suing going on since the lawyers have been allowed to advertise. Remember the good, old days of ambulance chasers, and where the 'yanks' were the only ones that did things like sue each other. Now we sue everyone for everything. Having problems with that job injury? Sue the employer! Creep who broke into your house? Sue him! To be perfectly honest, there are some people I know who I really don't want to piss off, because I'm afraid I'll be next on their growing 'sue list'. Okay, enough about suing - if you earn your money the honest way then you'll always be able to be proud of what you have.

I understand a shower is being held for a new person. It isn't for another whole month, but the date is set so that will be interesting. Aren't families interesting? First you have your own little family, or what you think of as your own little family because you were born into it and don't know anything different. So, you're going along, minding your own business and whamo you fall in love. Well, that's the first of many stages we all know about. You begin to talk and share and learn about each other, and then comes the day when you meet 'the family'. There's Aunt Binney who drinks a wee bit too much and keeps falling asleep with cigarettes in her hands, then there's the Uncle who guards his farm and still with a shotgun and who has an old dog who only lifts his head for the dinner bell. Of course there's Granny, who can whip up a feast for the 43 who just 'happened to be in the neighbourhood' out of a can of beans and a tomato. Papa sits quietly, watching Gran and wondering if she could get anymore beautiful. Ahem, I have really strayed off course here, haven't I? The shower, right, the shower. Well, I'm not sure we should really be heading to the shower. There were some serious hurt feelings at a different function (as there often are when these sides all fraternize), and I for one am concerned that something similar could happen again. I have expressed my feeling that it takes two to tango, so if the one party is certain she's going to do something, then it's sometimes best to have 'come down with something', to avoid having to deal with something one isn't really prepared to deal with. So that's my thoughts on that.

With a couple more thoughts on family, this being a day celebrated by the clans and those who begot the clans. My Nana called me and brought me up to date on some of the happenings. My mom was one of four - boy and three girls. I don't really speak with my uncle that often - and it's obviously mutual because I learned he had a quadruple bypass in February. I'm assuming I didn't get a call because he made it, but one can never be certain. Then I learned that OK isn't doing very well, and recently had surgery to remove a malignant tumour. Not sure what will happen now, but the other kidney is failing so that isn't really a good sign. The Aunts are doing well - I still email the one and sometimes chat on the phone, but not very often. There just aren't enough hours in the day to get all the chatting and work and everything done.

Well, my football minutes aren't going to type themselves, nor is any correspondence or agendas. I hope you all had a great day and continue to have a good night. Sleep with angels.
