Tuesday, June 14th

I'm not sure if the days go more quickly AS I'm getting older or BECAUSE I'm getting older, but it is absolutely incredible how quickly a day can pass. I know I'm not the only one but no one can explain why, instead of winding down for summer, this year seems to be gaining momentum. Amazing.

In no way do I mean the above to be negative, just the way things are. Life goes on. I woke up, so there must be something for me to do. It's just a matter of trying to figure out what it is and then fit it into the hours of the day.

I was going to go visit G&B's new little person yesterday, but ended up having a job interview at one of the plants out here. I think it went well, but that remains to be seen - should hear early next week. I am very much enjoying working at the Stollery, although the wage isn't enough for me to survive on without hubby. Stirstick's (hubby's nickname) advice yesterday was to not sell yourself short but rather ask for what you need to survive on. Good advice I thought and realistic for the plant job, but not for my particular position right now. Oh, ce la vie. We'll see what happens.

Anyway, because I didn't get to visit the new person yesterday, I'm heading there after work tonight. It will be nice to meet him and see in person what an incredible job his momums and dadums did! I thought I'd be able to head home and relax afterwards, but I was sent a friendly reminder email about a football (link to follow when team's website is re-established) executive meeting tonight - so it will be straight from the city to there. That will take a few hours, so there will probably not be much time left afterwards for anything more than a bath and bed, which will lead me back here within 24 hours...

Alrighty then - time for today's news:
* Baby girl (KVS) hurt her arm last night while she was babysitting. Something about "you know how you use a concrete wall when you're running down a hill to stop, Mom?" ... er, yes sweetie. Anyway, she's convinced it's broken but dadums and I think it's only jammed. We continue to be horrible parents for not running to the emergency room last night at 11PM, but we're going to take our chances. Isn't that what all parents do? Unless there is a bone sticking out or blood spurting, we attempt to save our healthcare dollars by not dragging someone out of bed to x-ray an arm/leg/finger/toe/whatever at who knows what hour, only to find out it's perfectly okay. This is usually the case, although I do remember a friend who's son broke his elbow and after 3 days it was finally diagnosed - his momums felt sooooo bad, but didn't do anything differently than the rest of us. It's definitely a hard call sometimes.
*Boys are both loving football, with the youngest (BDJ) gearing up for equipment soon with the Sherwood Park Northstars Bantam team. Dadums is helping out with equipment and training (I think) and older bro is hoping to make it to a game or two to show his support.
*DBR (our oldest) is working at a new job, but I'm not really sure about this. It's a construction site and he's only supposed to be doing cleanup, but sometimes it seems like more than that. The dadums and I have to talk more about that.
*Pets are good. Britt (little Yorkie) continues to be harassed by Raffi (not sure if I've spelled his name properly) our newest cat and Gator observes everything until Raffi ticks him off and then lays a beating down. It's much the same as watching the kids. (joke!!!)
*Dadums is back at work today for 4 I think and then off for one more weekend before having to work two. Hernia still hasn't been fixed, knee was on the mend (until he played football AGAIN with the boys), but otherwise good.

Okay - time is up! Toodles for now.
