Good day! How are things with you this fine day? In preparing to write my pre and post New Year entries, I re-read some of the posts from this time last year. Some things old, some new, some changes but lots of the same. Let's compare:
1) Spend More Time with Family & Friends
Like last year, there were friends we didn't get to see. We kept in touch with some phone calls, emails and blog followings, so that is always good. This year my views of family have changed yet again and I find that I wanted to spend a lot more time with our relatives. It has been very nice seeing the kids growing and changing and spending quality time with our nieces and nephews. I didn't see anyone from my mom's family but did see a few from my dad's, so we'll have to see about that this year. It's so nice that our family is back together; I think sometimes a break is the only way to fix things - actually, to see if things are able to be fixed. I certainly don't want to have to go through it again, and we're both confident that we are on the mend. We've really got nothing but time with each other. :-)
2) Fit in Fitness and 3) Tame the Bulge: I have completely ignored these two and have succeeded in getting myself very close to my "plus" days, although any of you who see me already know that. I have blossomed this year in more ways than one and need to get my entire life more fit and healthy, including finances!
4) Quit Smoking - 5 years in February!
5) Enjoy Life More - I have really enjoyed life this past year. I have made some attitude changes and have decided what I am and am not willing to do in different areas of my life. In changing work, I have alleviated a whole bunch of stress and am feeling much happier about that area of my life. (I finally got my final cheques, only to find out they paid me based on a wage $2.00 less an hour - so the CH joy continues.)
6) Quit Drinking - I think I had about 6 beverages this year, maybe 7. That is a 350% increase over 2005; I see myself heading for trouble. Haha.
7) Get Out of Debt - We did nothing more than get ourselves further in debt this year. I have purchased a Quicken money management package in the hopes that in tracking our spending we will be able to find a common ground to pay down our debt.
8) Learn Something New - This is never ending. From the time my eyes open until they shut at night, I'm learning things. It's what we choose to take from those learnings and apply to either better or worsen our lives, or perhaps just maintain as the same.
9) Help Others - I can always better myself on this one. I think Dadums absolutely excels at this!
10) Get Organized - We have tried that this year, and have succeeded in some areas, such as our pantry, spare bedroom and master bedroom. If we could get all the sh*t from the basement sorted out, then things would be even better. My favourite sign remains:
The end of another blog. Most likely chat with you tomorrow.
Toodles!

Although you'll find our house a mess,
Come in, sit down, converse.
It doesn't always look like this:
Some days it's even worse.
