Today's Stuff

There's lots in the news today, not necessarily all of it good.

The Olympics are slated to begin in August. Sadly Rio De Janeiro has declared a state of financial emergency. With an expected 500,000 visitors, the resources put on the country will be devastating. I thought cities had to prove the ability to support the Olympics when they made their submission. Perhaps I've got that wrong though.

Trump Trump Trump. This man is damn scary. I'm afraid that enough rednecks will come out of their hovels to vote for someone who has become their hero. Not that Hilary is much better, but come on.

We all have a right to our opinions, be they right or wrong. Protesting near someone's funeral steps over the line. The Westboro Baptist Church (known for its hatred toward the LGBT community) chose to bring their placards with hate filled messages one block from the funeral for Christopher Leonin who was killed last Sunday at Pulse nightclub. Thankfully over 1,000 supporters showed what true love and acceptance is. As an atheist I think WBC can blow it out their asses. Live and let live.

Pennsylvania couple gave daughter to man as thanks. WTF WTF??????? Since when are children used as "payment" or a "gift"? Lee Kaplan faces charges of statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor, and aggravated indecent assault. This monster had 12 girls in his home, ranging in age from 6 months to 18 years. One girl, now 18, told police that she and Kaplan have a 3-year-old and a 6-month-old. Seriously? It should be noted that Daniel Stoltzfus researched the legality online prior to handing over his daughter. Absolutely atrocious!

So Montreal is going to start banning pitbulls and other dangerous dogs. Have we not gone through this already? Ban the freakin' owners, not the dogs. I know so many "dangerous" dogs who are anything but. I feel this is a mistake. Again.

Justice served, finally! Tim Bosma went with Dellen Millard and Mark Smich when the latter two showed interested in buying Tim's truck. Tim never made it home. He was callously murdered and his body burned. After 5 months of trial, the 12-member jury found Millard and Smich guilty of FIRST DEGREE MURDER! They were immediately sentenced to 25 years with no chance of parole. Sharlene Bosma bravely stood outside the courtroom and spoke to the media and supporters about her memories.
