New Years is always the time of resolutions. I didn't have any real resolutions this year as I've sort of been attempting to set expectations throughout the year. Resolutions are mostly things that we need to do regardless of the time of year, and we're just procrastinating (for whatever reasons) over getting started. I've found some info on this that's interesting, but as I was reading it the thought occurred to me that I was further procrastinating about doing some things by reading about and searching out links to do with procrastination. Too funny!
Here's an interesting aside for all who experienced the 60's and 70's - Interview with inventor of LSD, Albert Hoffman, now 100. If you don't click the link today, then you will have to search out the article in their search bar.
Alright, I'm going to put this post on hold so that I can go get dressed, do some wash, wake up the kidlets, get the one who stayed at Dadum's last night back home, wash my car, get some groceries, nag at the kidlets to finish all the things they were supposed to do during the week, check out some thrift stores (if I can get myself organized enough to go to the city) ... is it any wonder why I procrastinate about doing some things? LOL. Toodles for now!
That was yesterday this is today. Not too much to ramble about because I've got work work to get done on top of some Sting work and some home work, and I notice this computer is really slowing down again so I'll have to do some snooping into it (not to mention cleaning it - looks like it's more of a dust monster than a computer) and then there are the regular things around the house, plus I didn't get the car washed yesterday and I have to head to work early tomorrow because I forgot to sign the papers at the bank yesterday and so now have to do it Monday and ... it really doesn't stop.
Kidlet update: I do believe they've had a great break from school and are looking forward (okay, maybe not) to getting back to the grind tomorrow. We have had a drop in marks for all three, but mostly the older two, this semester and Dadums and I will be sitting down with them to talk about some new rules about activities inside and outside the house (computer, PS2, friends, phones, etc) in an endeavour to assist them with their studies.
Aside: This is the tough part of parenting and I can really appreciate the struggles my parents faced with me when I was a teenager as I know I certainly wasn't the easiest kid to raise. I see where sometimes you let things slide in an attempt to keep some semblance of peace in the house. I also see where a two-parent household helps maintain the sanity of the parents as the kidlets bounce back and forth from one to the other and you need to take a breath when you aren't the one being focused on!
Anyway, there are further changes coming in our household for the kidlets that will really be determined by their choices. Buckle down just a little and put more effort toward school, act with maturity and try your best to get along with each other (okay, so I'm delusional - it's my blog!) and as your marks improve so too will your privileges within our family. Really no different than an outside job - if you excel at your job you reap rewards, whether it be monetary or through promotions. Same with school. Excel and get A's then you will have an A+ living; less effort equals C's then you will have a C- living. Our kids know what they want, it's just a matter of helping them stay focused while they get there. (And I guess Ms. Procrastination here isn't always the best example, huh? LOL Damn! Honesty hurts!!)
Gotta run, much to do!
Toodles!
