Mom,
I was at work yesterday and Ross gave me the baby computer to bring home. I've decided to continue your letters using this. You had the operation to put the shunt in yesterday. You were scheduled to have it at 10:00 AM, but the doctors had complications with another patient and they didn't take you in until 10:30 PM. It only took a little over an hour for them to do it, and you aren't feeling nauseous today. Dad said that they shaved half of your head, and they shaved it like when he shaves his face, not like with the other operations when they left a little bit of stubble. I'm sure that you won't be very impressed by that, but at least you'll be able to get better.
I guess they'll be shipping you back to the Glenrose soon. I think I have some unrealistic expectations about what you're going to be like now. I'm expecting you to be ready to get better now, but I'm not sure if you're going to be like that. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
Well, I'm hoping to go up and see you at the hospital tonight, but I haven't talked to Darrin about it yet. He might be too tired and want me to stay home. He's working 7 day weeks right now and is putting in a lot of overtime. He goes to work an hour early every day, works from 6 AM to 4 PM on Saturdays and works 6 AM to 2PM on Sundays. All of the overtime during the week and on Saturdays is time and a half, and the overtime on Sundays is double time. Understandably, he's awfully tired when he gets home and he doesn't always know what day it is.
Auntie Deb and Uncle Rocky are coming down at the end of the month. I talked to Auntie Deb yesterday. Dad had sent Shooshie flowers and he had to send them to Auntie Deb's because we don't have Shooshie's address. Well, Shooshie just happened to be there and Auntie Deb wasn't home, so Sharmayn got them right at the door. She hadn't received any other flowers, so that just made her day. I finally got the baby's name: Samantha Anne. She got her middle name from her Auntie Viv! It seems that between the two of us, both of your names have been used. I don't know if that's fair to the rest of the people, but I know that you sure enjoy it.
Well, it's taken me over 3 hours to finish this, so I guess I'll be signing off for now. I've got to finish getting supper anyways. I'll write more later.
I love you. Twyla
